SPRING CARDS
These could also possibly double as Mother’s Day cards!
A page dedicated to sharing simple how-to steps to neat and clean hand made cards. And perhaps some other scraps of fun.
SPRING CARDS
These could also possibly double as Mother’s Day cards!
SPRING TIME
I have not updated in a while, mostly due to my busy school schedule! But here’s a little taste of what is to come for the next round of cards!
I love spring time and I see a lot of inspiring stickers and paper designs that I already have in my collection and I’m excited to make cards when I have the time! Hopefully I will find a little time here and there, this is definitely one of my favorite de-stressing activities.
iPHONE CLEAR CASE COVERS
I now have an iPhone in my possession (thanks, Mom!)and I have been having way too much fun discovering its features and the most amazing thing ever: mobile internet. I need to protect my phone and while there are many cute cases out there, I thought that maybe I could make my clear case a little more unique and easily changeable to my outfit, mood, or even the current weather.
So it’s still a work in progress, but you get the idea! All you need is a clear phone case and some paper! Just get some of your pretty paper, measure, and cut! A hole punch and X-acto knife were great helpers for the camera hole. I also have a corner punch to give the edges that rounded look to fit the case.
My kitty Velvet made it again! Sheesh…she’s a weird one.
get out of there cat. no, it’s not night time. that’s not a window.
VALENTINE’S DAY
I hope everybody will have a wonderful Valentine’s Day! Whether it’s treating yourself to a little fun or sharing it with loved ones!
get out of there cat, you can’t make cards out of paper. you wouldn’t even have anyone to send it to.
CINNAMON HONEY BUTTER
I found this recipe online a few months back and thought it would be great for gifts! I think this would be a great gift any time of the year as well. It’s extremely easy to make and to customize the gift tags with the holiday/event you’re making it for. I also like to put the recipe inside the tags as an added bonus! The pictures I took were made for a larger batch, so don’t worry if yours doesn’t match exactly! Here’s the easy recipe!:
(makes 2-3 half pint jars)
2 sticks of softened butter (not microwaved)
1 cup of powdered sugar
1-2 tsp of cinnamon
1 cup of honey (I used about half a cup to be honest)
Mix well together in a bowl and pour into jars and you’re all done!
CLIPS FOR KIERA (CHRISTMAS GIFT)
This easy gift idea can be great for any time of the year for all ages! I made some flower and feather hair accessories for my coworkers and friends this season.
I found the sunflowers and ladybugs at Michaels on clearance and I reused the bag that they came in for the packaging! These were actually puffy stickers that I fixed up to put on a barrette for my niece, Kiera. It was her first Christmas!
get off of there cat. you look depressed which is making me depressed. stop it.
I’m sure many of you have seen my cats in the backgrounds of my picture posts. This is Velvet and she is extremely odd. Every time I look at her she is in a new position or making a face, so naturally I have tons of pictures like a crazy cat lady. I sent one to one of my favorite tumblrs, Get Off of There Cat, and she was posted!
Have a happy holiday, everybody! I’ll have a few new crafty DIY gifts (although it’s a little late for the holiday, but always good for others!) after Sunday.
I just used division, really. I had one magnet strip (.79 cents) and three boxes for $1, but I only used one. So one (dollar) divided by three (boxes) is .33 cents and adding that to .79 is $1.12. So each magnetic poetry kit would cost you roughly $1.12 to make. Hope that helps!
MAGNETIC POETRY
Make beautiful poetry on your fridge while you’re waiting for that water to boil! You could pay upwards of $20 dollars for kits like these! REALLY? You want to know how much it cost me to make? $1.12!
Obviously, this is extremely simple to make. Just go to your local craft store (.79 @ Joanne’s for 30 inches) and take off the paper on the magnet which will leave the sticky part exposed and then paste paper over it, write your words on (add a few conjunctions!), cut them out, and put them in a container (3 for a $1 @ baby section of Dollar Tree)! THAT IS SO EASY!
It’s also important to note that I hot glued magnets onto the container so they would have somewhere to put the poetry on the fridge when they weren’t using it.
SUPERHERO CARDS (BATMAN)
I made a card very similar to this one recently when my boyfriend and his friend went to L.A. for a special showing and panel with the directors of one of the older Batman movies. He was extremely excited and thankful for this card.
Since the holidays are near, I decided to send a holiday card to his favorite local comic book shop, Ryan’s Comics. Ryan is very good to his customers and deserves a little extra appreciation for all of his hard work. So what better way than to make a superhero card?
I just gave it to the owner, Ryan, and he thought it was awesome!
CANDY FAVORS
I usually make these around each holiday for my coworkers and they love it, especially when I pair it with a card! These are extremely easy to make! All I did was buy the clear plastic baggies from a craft store (got mine from Michael’s) and used paper, stickers, and my tape gun!
I personalized these even more by writing in my coworker’s names on each favor and stamping the back. Adding the extra love makes a difference!
MAKING MISTAKES (BAD STAMP MARKS)
I got a little lazy with my stamping with this card and the stamp mark ended up looking really bad because I stamped it twice. I took a minute and covered it up! Now the card looks like I tried extra hard to impress them! I just used the same colors from the front of the card to coordinate inside.
The last picture is also an idea on what to do with that extra space on the card if you don’t want to write very much.
I was asked a question recently by one of my followers on what to write in a card to people that I don’t know very well (or in person). My main response was to keep it nice and short. Also, putting in a little about yourself and what your accomplishments for the year were or your hopes for the future are always a nice touch. It keeps them informed and makes them feel good that they’re involved in your life.
HOW I SPENT MY MORNING
My hand doesn’t like me right now, but I’m glad I was able to finish these signatures today so that I won’t have to worry about them later! I can’t believe I did 50 of these. I don’t even KNOW 50 people to send these to! :D
